Intro to Lives and Landscapes
2017 Fallby Jeff Bader
Director, Montana State University Extension
Congratulations, BSSA!
This issue of Big Sky Small Acres: Rural Living in Montana (BSSA) marks its 10 year anniversary. For all 10 years, the publication has included practical, how-to articles designed to address problems and meet the needs of our readers. We are proud of this magazine and I’m grateful to the professionals who have worked hard to make it a success.
As we considered how to expand readership over the next decade, we realized that we had an opportunity to better connect with all Montanans by changing the name to reflect the value of the articles within to everyone – whether they live on a small ranch, or a large one; or in the middle of town. We wanted to reach both rural and urban readers, via print and internet, and share information and resources from all of Extension’s four program areas: 4-H Youth Development, Family and Consumer Sciences, Agriculture and Natural Resources and Community Development.
To meet these goals, I’m excited to announce that BSSA is transitioning to a new look with expanded content.
Our new magazine, Lives and Landscapes, will include the same style of short, practical, how-to articles to address common problems and opportunities for all Montanans. Every issue will contain something for you to learn and apply; and maybe even share with your neighbor. All previous issues of BSSA will continue to be available online (limited print copies can be ordered).
I encourage you to sign up for automatic distribution by visiting our store. Print subscriptions are available, as well, and make great gifts. In addition, please share your ideas for stories. What would you like to know? This is YOUR magazine. Please visit www.msuextension.org.
Best,
