Livestock Judging Team Places in Top Ten at Montana State 4-H Congress

Sheridan County 4-H members attended the Montana 4-H Congress in July of 2022. Three members of Sheridan County 4-H traveled to Bozeman to compete in the state livestock judging contest. This was the first time Sheridan County 4-H members had made the trip in several years, and this all-freshman team placed eighth in the state. They look forward to returning next year. Other 4-H members hope to add a horse judging team to next year’s contingent. ANN: An intro for Sheridan county, since they didn't submit one: Sheridan County is located northeast of Montana, with Plentywood, the county seat, located approximately 18 miles south of the Montana/Canada border and 24 miles west of the Montana/North Dakota border. The Montana Legislature established Sheridan County in 1913 from portions of Dawson and Valley Counties. It was named for American Civil War General Philip Sheridan. The Medicine Lake National Wildlife Refuge is located just south of the Town of Medicine Lake. MSU Extension works in partnership with Sheridan County, Montana State University and the United States Department of Agriculture. Through the strength of this partnership, Extension agents provide research-based education programs to county residents in the areas of Agriculture/Natural Resources, 4-H Youth Development, Community Development and Family and Consumer Science.
