Meeting the Needs

MSU Extension agent Jane Wolery fielded 1,220 requests for service through phone calls, text, walk-in clients and community connections, and communicated through 3,700 sent emails in 2019. Requests are as varied as questions on food preservation and food safety, to caregiving, to quit claim deeds. Wolery reached 875 participants through class instruction and youth camps. Wolery aired 42 Extension Minutes through KSEN radio and 20 newspaper articles in the Choteau Acantha and Fairfield Sun Times for additional outreach education in the county and beyond. Agricultural diagnostic services are provided. The Extension team aided clients by testing forage samples for nitrates, providing water test kits, sending insects, plants, soils and forages to MSU Schutter Diagnostic Lab and other laboratories for identification and analysis. Teton County MSU Extension provides technical assistance for clients. The team produces monthly newsletters and updates for 4-H families, provides 4-H curriculum training and support to club leaders, members and families.
