“It was a great year and I am glad to be moving on to the world and I feel that 4-H has prepared me for that”. – Richland County 4-H Member 4-H provides opportunities for youth to participate in learn-by-doing projects that guide them in preparing for their future. In Richland County 221 youth are engaged in learning outside of the classroom through 4-H. In Richland County, the top projects are beef, shooting sports, swine, foods and nutrition and photography. This year Richland County had a record number of members in the beef project. One beef member, Ali Merritt was selected as a Montana State 4-H Award Winner. She has gone above and beyond in her 4-H beef project work and plans to use the skills that she has gained in the beef projects in her future career and personal beef operation. Members also participate in club meetings, service learning projects and a variety of activities and events that aid in their growth and development. 4-H provides youth with positive experiences through relationships with caring adult volunteers in safe and inclusive environments. Youth in Richland County partner with 119 volunteers to find belonging, develop independence, secure opportunities for mastery and to practice generosity. Through project work, service learning and relationships with adults 4-H prepares 4-H youth to become active participants in the future.
