Stillwater County

A Growing Program of Youth & Volunteers

Published: 2019

As in previous years, we continue to strive to get out into our community to recruit both youth and adults to join the 4-H program in our county each year. While we still recruited a number of new youth members, the goal for this year was to recruit more leaders, and specifically project leaders. Success! Our leader numbers increased by 46% from last year, thus allowing us to put on almost double the workshops for our 4-Hers and the ability to put on various additional contests and activities as well. This year we were able to add STEM workshops, more cloverbud, sewing, welding, dog and other workshops, and fun activities that included the corn maze, coloring contests, Super Bowl party, and pumpkin decorating and carving contests. Each year we continue to see our numbers increase not only for 4-H enrollments but for our fair as well. We believe they will continue to grow as we are able to offer the resources and hands-on that they need and want while continuing to serve the traditional needs and programs we always have. With these growing numbers we are starting to bust at the seams of our current fairgrounds and are looking forward to the future for plans of expanding in some manner. We are so excited to see how this program will continue to grow in our county and are so thankful for all those who help us make this program what it is today. We truly couldn’t do it without the commitment, time dedication, financial donations and support of our community, friends and family.
