4-H youth development programs create an environment for youth to reach their greatest potential by acquiring knowledge, developing life skills and strengthening their values. Blaine County youth are provided opportunities to develop their talents and capabilities. Throughout the process, youth develop life skills that are relevant both now and in the future. Youth who develop these skills become self-directed, productive and contributing citizens. Some of the life skills they develop are: understanding of self, relating with others, communication, problem solving, acquiring, analyzing, and using information, managing resources and working with others. This year, Blaine County 4-H saw the highest member participation in county activities in the past five years. Over 100 members and 30 leaders participated in organized events and workshops. Average attendance was up 20% at all activities throughout the year. MSU Extension office staff, 4-H volunteer leaders and 4-H teen leaders taught many hands-on workshops and trainings, including livestock judging, monthly shooting sports, summer weekly horse project, summer weekly dog project, 4-H project day, livestock quality assurance, 4-H officers, and record books. Blaine County 4-H members learned many new skills and had a lot of fun during the 2018-2019 4-H year!
