Hill County has been fortunate to have Rhonda Gregoire as the SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educator. She was recognized this year by MSU for serving 20 years in her role. Rhonda taught over 140 Eating Smart Being Active (ESBA) adult classes in Hill County and Rocky Boy. 83% of the adults that graduated from the ESBA series reported that they ate vegetables more often each day. Rhonda also taught nutrition education in 3rd and 5th grades in the county. Students that graduated from Rhonda’s in-school series reported the following behavior changes: 88% improved in 1 or more knowledge area or skills necessary to choose foods consistent with the Federal Dietary Guidelines. 72% improved in 1 or more knowledge, skill, or behavior related to handling food safely. In 2019, Rhonda was able to attend the Flavors of Home Summit in Billings to learn more about indigenous cooking and ingredients. Rhonda’s goal for the coming year is to continue to serve both adults and children in Hill County and the Rocky Boy Tribal community.
