On September 20th, five delegates traveled from the US to South Korea for a Global Leadership Conference hosted by Korea 4-H. Katie Hatlelid, Stephanie Davison, Cade Duran, Natalie Sloan and Claire Downing attended the conference representing Montana 4-H and the USA. The purpose behind the event was to bring together 4-H members and leaders from many nations to network, build relationships, and create a global 4-H movement to educate and empower youth around the world. There were roughly 25 countries represented at the conference. Arriving in Seoul, and due to the typhoon that was making landfall on the island of Jeju at the time, the delegates were able to spend nearly two full days exploring the city of Seoul. In the time spent at the conference, the group saw several areas of the island of Jeju, which is to the southwest of the mainland. The conference was held near the Jeju International Convention Center, with a couple of events being in the tremendous facility. It housed an auditorium that held over 4,000 people for a cultural show on one evening. The Korean 4-H International Foreign Youth Exchange program yearly conference coincided with the leadership conference to nearly fill the auditorium. It was a privilege to be a part of the trip, and be able to visit and network with 4-H members and leaders from over 20 countries. 4-H can really take you places!
