Phillips County 4-H Week

Published: 2019

National 4-H Week October 6-12, 2019 was National 4-H Week and the Phillips County 4-H program used this time to promote 4-H with window displays and show appreciation to local businesses that continually support local youth. 4-H clubs collectively baked over 650 cookies which they hand delivered to local businesses thanking them for their support over the past year. Ten youth participated in promotional efforts during the week by recording fun and interesting 4-H facts for the local radio station. These educational recordings were played throughout the month to encourage local youth to explore what 4-H is all about and that there are numerous projects that don’t require living on a farm or ranch in order to participate. Four senior 4-H members also visited 2nd through 4th graders at the local elementary school. 4-H members visited with over 80 youth about their involvement with 4-H, what projects they could participate in, answered questions about enrollment, and encouraged anyone interested in 4-H to contact the local Extension Office.
