Farm Fair

In an effort to connect young people to the natural world and agriculture around them, a collaborative effort between the DNRC, Woolgrower women, Superintendent of Schools, Extension Office, local Weed Districts and local livestock associations resulted in the 2019 Farm Fair program. Approximately 120 4th and 5th graders from the rural schools as well as Big Timber Grade School spent an entire day rotating through various educational stations. These stations allowed students to engage in hands-on learning with live animals and plants, while also being able to sample products that are a result of agriculture. Students were also introduced to 4-H and Farm Safety stations. Informal evaluations of both teachers and students showed that this program was educational, beneficial and well-received.
